How dose temperature influence spring steel wire?

The elastic modulus of spring steel wire will decrease, if the temperature of spring working environment increases, and the stiffness will decrease as well, the load capacity will be weaken. So the spring steel wire working under high temperature requires good heat stability, good resistance to loose and creep, good resistance to oxidation. Under the low temperature, the brittleness of materials is very sensitive to surface defects, so the requirement to the surface quality of spring steel wire should be strictly. Under the low temperature, the corrosion of environment medium to the material is smaller. Under the low temperature, the elastic modulus of spring steel wire has little change, so we needn’t to consider during the design.

All in all, temperature has a great influence to spring steel wire, also to the spring, so we need to understand it.
